VISA FOR PLAB
If you don't live in the UK,you will require a visa at a point to complete the PLAB journey.The good thing is that both the Family Visitor visa and the PLAB(Business Visitor) visa can be used to take the exams. They both now fall under the Standard Visitor visa.
For the PLAB 1 , most people choose to take it in their home countries or nearby countries. For example Indians and Nigerians can take it in their home countries,Ghanaians can travel to nearby Nigeria/Sudan for PLAB 1.However this can only be at the March and November attempt. The June and September exams are only held in the UK.Based on your personal circumstances, you might have to go to the UK and hence will need a visa.
PLAB 2 is only held in Manchester,UK and you will require a visa If you don't reside there .
Just like any endeavour,it is important to plan towards your visa application.
It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to be in employment,be it government or private hospital.
You will require the following documents
Valid Passport with at least one blank page on both sides + previous passports
Bank Statement of preceding 6 months - They are more interested in seeing activity in the account (deposits and withdrawals) rather than a specific huge sum. It paints a better picture when it's your own account,however you may use a bank statement of a sponsor(advisable to be a close family member) + letter of confirmation that he/she is sponsoring some part/ all of your travel.
Payslips - official pay slips of last 3-6 months
Notice of leave from your current job - this can be obtained from your HR/Adminstrator,proving that you are an employee of the hospital (explaining your role eg.medical officer) and that there are no restrictions to your travel as well as stating your exact leave period and income .
Birth certificate
Copies of your Medical Degree Certificate/ license ( proof that you are a doctor)
Information about your visit : this could be a letter of invitation from a UK relative,flight details,evidence of sponsors immigration status in the UK,email printout of your PLAB booking and of the PLAB 1 pass if for PLAB 2 .
Documents showing your home address
Evidence of assets
Accommodation in the UK : this could be sponsors accommodation details,hotel booking confirmation or travel booking confirmation .
You can send in any document to support your application but they must be in English or translated and certified.
For each document,provide the original and a copy.
